Smash Table Tennis Club

Introduction


This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all members of Smash Sports
Table Tennis Club By joining and participating in Club activities, all members agree to abide by this
Code of Conduct.


Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to:
- Promote a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all members
- Ensure fair play and good sportsmanship
- Protect Club facilities and equipment
- Foster a positive and inclusive club culture
- Establish clear expectations and consequences for member behaviour

 

Scope
- This Code of Conduct applies to:
- All Club members, including full members, social members, and junior members
- All Club activities, including training sessions, competitions, social events, and tournaments
- All Club premises and facilities
- Online interactions related to the Club, including social media and messaging groups

 

General Conduct Expectations

All members must:
- Treat all members, guests, officials, volunteers, and staff with respect and courtesy
- Behave in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Club
- Comply with all Club rules, policies, and procedures
- Follow the lawful directions of Club officials, committee members, and coaches
- Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person regardless of age, gender, ability, cultural background, or religion
- Promote fair play and good sportsmanship at all times


Sportsmanship and Fair Play
Members are expected to:
- Play fairly and within the rules of table tennis
- Respect opponents, partners, and officials during all games
- Accept victory with humility and defeat with grace
- Avoid gamesmanship, cheating, or any form of unfair advantage

​- Make honest line calls and scoring decisions
- Congratulate opponents after matches
- Refrain from excessive celebration that may be disrespectful to opponents
- Support and encourage fellow Club members

 

Respect for Others
Members must not engage in:
- Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
- Verbal abuse, offensive language, or threatening behaviour
- Physical violence or aggressive conduct
- Behaviour that creates an unsafe or uncomfortable environment for others
- Unwelcome physical contact
- Inappropriate comments about appearance, ability, or personal characteristics


Facility and Equipment Usage
Members must:
- Use Club facilities and equipment with care and respect
- Report any damage to equipment or facilities immediately to Club officials
- Return all equipment to its proper storage location after use
- Keep playing areas clean and tidy
- Dispose of rubbish in appropriate bins
- Not remove Club equipment from the premises without authorization
- Pay for any damage caused by misuse or negligence
- Wear appropriate non-marking footwear in playing areas
- Not eat or drink (except water) in playing areas unless specifically permitted

 

Booking and Playing Time
Members must:
- Adhere to the Club's booking system and playing time allocations
- Arrive punctually for booked sessions and competitions
- Vacate tables promptly when playing time expires
- Allow other members fair access to tables and facilities
- Not monopolize tables during peak times
- Respect priority booking arrangements for competitions and coaching sessions
- Cancel bookings in advance if unable to attend

 

Safety Requirements
Members must:
- Follow all safety rules and procedures

- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for table tennis
- Report any hazards, injuries, or safety concerns immediately
- Not engage in dangerous or reckless behaviour
- Ensure personal belongings do not create trip hazards
- Supervise any children in their care at all times
- Follow emergency evacuation procedures when required

 

Alcohol and Substances
Members must not:
- Consume alcohol on Club premises.
- Attend Club activities while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
- Bring illegal drugs or substances onto Club premises
- Smoke or vape inside/outside Club premises

 

Dress Code
Members must:
- Wear appropriate athletic attire suitable for table tennis
- Wear clean, non-marking sports shoes
- Avoid clothing with offensive images or language
- Comply with any specific dress requirements for competitions or events

 

Communication and Social Media

Members must:
- Communicate respectfully in all Club-related interactions
- Not post offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate content about the Club or its members
- Respect the privacy of other members
- Not share photos or videos of other members without their consent
- Report any concerning online behaviour to Club officials

 

Financial Obligations
Members must:
- Pay all membership fees, court fees, and other charges by the due date
- Settle any debts to the Club promptly
- Not participate in Club activities if membership fees are overdue (unless approved by the Committee)

 

Guests and Visitors

Members who bring guests must:
- Ensure guests comply with this Code of Conduct
- Supervise their guests at all times
- Take responsibility for any damage or issues caused by their guests
- Comply with the Club's guest policy and any applicable guest fees

 

Competitions and Tournaments
During competitions and tournaments, members must:

- Arrive on time and be ready to play when scheduled
- Comply with competition rules and formats
- Accept the decisions of umpires and referees
- Not coach or advise players during matches unless permitted by competition rules
- Maintain appropriate noise levels to avoid disturbing other matches

 

Reporting Concerns
Members should:
- Report any breaches of this Code of Conduct to Club officials
- Report any safety concerns, hazards, or incidents immediately
- Raise concerns through appropriate channels (Committee members, coaches, or designated officials)
- Cooperate with any investigations into alleged breaches

 

Consequences for Breaches
Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- Verbal or written warning
- Temporary suspension from Club activities
- Termination of membership
- Referral to law enforcement (for serious breaches involving illegal activity)

 

The severity of consequences will depend on:
- The nature and seriousness of the breach
- Whether the breach was intentional or accidental
- The member's previous conduct record
- Any mitigating circumstances


Disciplinary Process
When a breach is reported:
- The matter will be investigated by the Club Committee or designated officials
- The member will be given an opportunity to respond to allegations

- ​​A decision will be made based on the evidence and circumstances
- The member will be notified of the outcome in writing
- The member may appeal the decision to the Committee within [14 DAYS]

 

Acknowledgement
By signing below, I acknowledge that:
- I have read and understood this Code of Conduct
- I agree to abide by all provisions of this Code of Conduct
- I understand that breaches may result in disciplinary action
- I will promote a positive and respectful club environment

 

This Code of Conduct is effective from 28th October 2025 and may be amended by the Club
Committee from time to time. Members will be notified of any changes.
